Brooklyn Early Childhood Centre is a non-profit incorporated society, community-based early childhood centre.

We are a stand-alone centre that receives no additional funding from an umbrella organisation. Our main sources of income are from parent fees (the current rate is $30 per day per child) and Ministry of Education funding, based on our status as a full-day licensed early childhood facility.

Since we became incorporated in 1987, rolls have been full with typically a waiting list of 6 to 12 months.

Our objective

To provide high-quality community-based care and education to young children (aged one to five) from Brooklyn and the surrounding Wellington south suburbs.

Our Mission Statement

To provide quality early childhood care and education that allows children to learn and develop in a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment where parents/caregivers, teachers and community work in partnership.

Profile

Brooklyn Early Childhood Centre operates from 8:30am to 2:45pm, Monday to Friday. Twenty children attend per day and there are 45 children on the total roll (plus 60 on the wait-list).

Our four permanent teachers promote positive and supportive relationships with families and whanau.

We are committed to providing equitable and accessible early childhood education services to our entire community.  We are an Incorporated Society and are in the processing of applying for Charitable Status – we hope to be fully registered by the end of this financial year.
